Creative Future Lab

The Creative Future Lab for Art & Technology Research is a collaborative team that explores how creative arts-based practice and new technologies influence and shape each other.

We work at the intersection of artistic expression, scientific inquiry, and technological innovation. We experiment with new technologies to create art, study digital culture, and imagine future possibilities of becoming. Art is something whose existence depends on theory. Therefore the group’s identity is shaped by a strong theoretical backbone that draws on media theory, critical technology studies, and new media art history with a focus on artistic and academic practice through art-based research and sci-art collaborations at the Art-Science-Policy nexus (including exhibitions): The Creative Future Lab operates as a hybrid lab—not purely academic, not purely artistic, with the aim of fostering collaboration and dialogue about the impact of art and technology research across sectors and disciplines.

The group is led by Professor Ingeborg Reichle, faculty at the Computational Media and Arts Thrust (CMA), Information Hub, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou).
