We are recruiting to fill multiple PhD, MPhil, and Research Assistant positions starting from Spring 2026.

PhD candidate

Full Time and Fully Funded

Prospective PhD applicants: If your excellent research / arts-based research / art-tech practice is in line with our research group's focus, send an email with your research proposal and we will consider it seriously. A successful candidate will enroll in the fully funded PhD programme of the Computational Media and Arts Thrust and undertake research / arts-based research / art-tech practice and research under the supervision of Professor Ingeborg Reichle. The normative duration to the degree is 3 years (4 years without a prior Masters degree). The official language for this PhD programme is English. For interested students who do not have strong research experience, please consider applying to the HKUST(GZ) MPhil programme first, for artists who do not have a Master degree, please do consider applying for the new Computational Media and Arts MFA programme first. MPhil positions

Fully Funded MPhil

The HKUST(GZ) MPhil programme is a fully funded and the admission is managed by independent committees in the university. If you want to work in our research group as an MPhil student, please apply and get an offer first. After you get an offer, we can talk about possible opportunities to work at the Creative Future Lab. For applicants with strong academic record but limited research experience, we recommend them apply for the MPhil programme first. Follow the instructions via the link and apply accordingly.

Visiting Research Students

Short-term Study

Visiting Research Students: If you are a registered graduate or senior year Undergraduate student in another university and would like to study for a short period (e.g., 1-6 months) in our research group at the Creative Future Lab, you are welcome to apply at our visiting student programme. You may also send us an email with your current CV. Make sure your home university and/or your academic supervisor allows you to visit for the period you apply for.
