The permeation of our biosphere by millions of tons of toxic microplastic particles has fundamentally altered the conditions for the existence of life on Earth. Anthropogenic materials are driving profound ecological transformations that will persist for millions of years, creating new dynamics of adaptation for mammals, other biological organisms, and plants.
This publication brings together numerous international art projects that address the harmful effects of endocrine disruptors and the accumulation of plastic particles in our food chain. Further, it also presents contributions from various scientific disciplines examining the formation of new ecosystems as well as the alarming consequences of ubiquitous microplastic pollution in soil, water, and air.
